What you should know about Reddit Ads?

Reddit’s advertising platform presents a lot of opportunities for brands to connect with their target audience. It is based on interests, behaviors, and demographics. However, one of the fundamental aspects that advertisers need to grasp is the Reddit advertising cost.

From sponsored posts to display ads and promoted trends, Reddit offers various ad formats to suit different marketing goals and budgets.

Delving deeper into the intricacies of Reddit advertising costs enables marketers to optimize their campaigns for better performance and ROI. So that every advertising dollar is utilized effectively to drive results.

What are the factors defining Reddit ad cost?

Reddit advertising costs are influenced by a multitude of factors, each playing a crucial role in determining effectiveness of a campaign. Understanding these factors is essential for marketers looking to optimize their advertising budget and achieve maximum ROI.

One significant factor affecting Reddit advertising cost is the type of bidding strategy employed. Whether it’s cost-per-click (CPC) or cost-per-thousand-impressions (CPM), selecting the right bidding strategy can impact the overall cost and performance of your ads.

Additionally, factors such as ad placement and positioning within Reddit’s feed can influence costs, with premium placements typically getting higher prices. The rule is simple: the higher advertising cost comes with higher ad placement in the feed.

Moreover, ad relevance and quality score play a pivotal role in determining the cost of advertising on Reddit. Ads that are highly relevant to their target audience and deliver engaging content are rewarded with better results.

Seasonal trends and fluctuations in demand can also impact Reddit advertising costs, with peak periods often resulting in higher competition. For example, holidays such as Black Friday, Cyber Monday or Valentine’s Day tend to drive costs way up.

By carefully monitoring these factors and optimizing campaigns, marketers can effectively manage their Reddit advertising costs and achieve optimal results.

Reddit marketing cost – real life example

Let me show you reddit ads cost on 3 different cases/examples, to illustrate the idea of how exactly the cost is defined.

A few weeks ago I was promoting my Product Jobs Newsletter. The idea was simple: I just made a landing page to attract new subscribers (leads) who would read my newsletter further.

The page looked something like this:

The ad was pretty much simple too – it was based on the angle of “get access to relevant product jobs you won’t find on Linkedin”. Here is the creative, by the way:

Overall I’ve spent about $180 for such ad, giving me 510 subscribers in total. If we calculate the cost-per-subscriber, it turns into $0.35. I had to pause ad after this, since i needed to build the board first. The whole ad was an experiment aimed at idea validation. I plan promoting it again in the future, since I want to scale this project further.

How to calculate Reddit advertising cost?

Based on the mentioned example, you can see that the total ad cost is determined by cost-per-conversion (lead, sale, etc) and the total number of results you want to get.

In another client’s case study, we got leads for around $1.5-$2 each. You can read more about this case study here. Given we wanted to bring more than 500 leads, our ad cost went beyond $750.

As you can see, multiplying the cost of your result by the total number of results will tell you exactly your needed ad spend / cost of your ad campaign.

Conclusion

When considering online advertising options, compare Reddit advertising costs with other platforms such as Facebook and Google Ads. Each platform offers its unique advantages and targeting options, but we can draw some common practices.

Through comparative analysis, marketers can evaluate the potential ROI of investing in Reddit ads relative to other platforms. Case studies showcasing successful Reddit ad campaigns and their corresponding costs can offer real-world examples of the platform’s effectiveness in driving results within budgetary constraints.

By examining the CPC/CPM, and other metrics across ad platforms, marketers can make better decisions. They understand how to allocate their advertising budget for maximum impact better.
